The second day of June was sunny, warm, and not humid. In other words, perfect. Add to that a few extra kids to play with in the back yard, and it made a marvelous morning for the Muffins. Before the back yard party started, Mom accomplished an amazing feat of hair wrangling. Some of you may have seen the wigs that came out when Tangled did, the ones that were two feet long. Amanda has that much and more on her head without help from a wig. Most days, Mom is doing well to get it into a nice neat single braid or ponytail. But today, Mom went all out and put in . . . a part! Behold, not just one braid, but TWO!

Jared had fun with bowling pins. One of our neighbor kids is just Jared's age and also loves to play with the bowling pins. It's so nice when things work out like that.

Here's Curtis doing one of his favorite things, checking out dirt. He may also be wondering where all the water and mud went, since this spot made quite the mud puddle during the April and May rains.

Here's Lydia saying hi to the camera. She also liked playing with the bowling pins Jared shared with her. That plus grass to pull really made her day.

From here on out, it's all plants, so you're free to tune out if you just came for the Muffins. We still have a couple of bean plants (from dry pinto beans), and Amanda's snap dragon is getting bigger.

The marigolds Mom planted have come up:

We've also got LOTS of little carrot sprouts, some in rows, some all over.

Amanda's sweet peas came up, too!

Bob the tomato plant has a flower; now, let's hope it makes a tomato!

The hanging strawberry plant has a couple of berries. Also, the ground plant got a berry, too. Mom and the Muffins picked three berries today. Since Lydia was asleep, Curtis and Jared each got one of the smaller ones, and Amanda and Mom split the bigger one.
