Here's the market, or most of it anyway. It was a little small, but it's the beginning of the season. As we approached it, Amanda said, "Mom, I'll be able to tell who the farmers are by their clothes." Then she looked around and realized that the farmers didn't come to market in the same kind of clothes that the farmers wear in Curious George. Ooops.
Proof that Curtis and Lydia were there (or at least in a parking lot somewhere). They enjoyed the samples from the cheese stand, even though they didn't like being strapped in while watching Amanda and Jared scamper about.
We ended up buying three things, a cookie, some cheese, and a tomato plant. The cookie was white chocolate with blueberries, a nice big one that we cut up for everyone to try. The cheese was a variety called "Gretna Grilling," because it tastes good toasted (as in genuine grilled cheese, no bread required). Mom tried grilling it at home, but it didn't come out quite like at the market. Still tasted good, though. As for the tomato plant, Mom named him Bob and planted him soon after we got home. Here's Bob:
One other recent edition to our back yard, a homemade tether ball pole by Dad for Amanda:
All in all, a fun afternoon, especially since the rain let up for the occasion. Jared, however, did have a problem with what he considered to be false advertising by Mom. When Mom asked him how he liked the farmer's market, he angrily replied, "Mommy, that is NOT a farm. There are no chickens, there are no pigs, there are no cows. That's just a PRETEND farm!"
That was a nice adventure!
ReplyDeleteWhat? How did I not know about this Farmer's Market. That's it. I'm going. :) Cute pictures.
