If we only had a cat . . . (and other Muffin stuff)

Here's Curtis holding Boots. Or Socks. Or Mittens. You pick. Alas, although we live in the land of restricted pets, we have fallen in love with this kitten. So, in lieu of actually owning it, we'll have to settle for putting it on the blog. Good news, though: our friends with kittens also have baby fish. Those we can actually adopt! Also, if any local friends are looking for a kitten, let Mom know and she can forward you the info about this kitten and its siblings.

In other Muffin news, while Curtis and other Muffins were playing with kittens and friends yesterday, Mom was off watching Amanda's spring concert for kindergarten. They sang, played xylophones, and also did a couple of folk dances. Mom has a video of one of the dances posted on Facebook, so let her know if you are not a Facebook user and still want to see it so she can send you a link. Here's Amanda after the concert, getting ready to go back to class.

Our sports update today is about Lydia, who has been learning to play ball.

From Jared today, we have a short story. A scripture story. Here it is:

"And it came to pass the Nephites wanted to kill the Lamanites. But first, they had to get real swords. Not pretend swords."

There was more later, about the Nephites being tired of fighting and the Lamanites being sad about bleeding on their feet. Mom's favorite part was about how "the Nephites wanted to take a bath. Not a sleepy bath, a wakey bath."


On the science front, Dad has been waging war against a displaced ant colony determined to invade our home. Last night he successfully blocked the crack between the door and door frame they'd been using to get in. Yay!

Mom's contribution today (aside from assembling the news bulletin) consists of a couple of random stories. The first occurred yesterday, when Mom confirmed once again that our less-than-new car is quite capable of passing other, snazzier looking cars. Presumably the other drivers don't know that Mom is so proud of how fast the car can reach the speed limit after a stop light, but Mom gets a kick out of it anyway, even as the other cars pass her after they exceed the speed limit. The other funny story is funny in context. On the surface, it's just a cute sighting of a mom playing hide and seek with her daughter. However, when the mom crossed into our backyard to hide, Mom couldn't help but chuckle thinking that if the lady was trying to get away from kids, she'd sure come to the wrong place! :) And that, folks, concludes our news for the day.
