Egg Fest 2011 (egg-spress version)

Way back when at Easter time in April, we observed our annual tradition of coloring eggs. This year, Dad was determined that the event be as neat and tidy as possible. The result: it was probably the fastest egg fest we've ever had. Once the eggs were hard boiled, Dad and the Muffins got them colored within about 15 minutes, almost 3 dozen of them. Here's the group:

Lydia got a spoon to play with while everyone else was coloring; she was happy:

Here we have the finished project:

Epilogue: Some of the eggs were eaten that day, others later, either alone or in egg salad sandwiches. Still others languished in the fridge until Mom finally accepted that no one was going to eat them before they went bad. One of them tried to go to the zoo with us. Jared had stuck one of the eggs inside a plastic egg when he went with Mom to take Amanda to school one day. It ended up in the stroller pocket. And stayed there. And stayed there. And then we smelled a stinky diaper on the way to the zoo. Except that it wasn't a diaper. And so it was that a trash can at McDonald's became the final resting place for one of our eggs. Still good times coloring them, though. We're getting to be quite proficient in the use of food coloring, if we do say so ourselves.
