Rainy Sunday

Today started out like a fairly typical Sunday. Until we got to church "on time" and realized that there was a special meeting instead of regular church that meant we were actually an hour late. We still got to hear some good talks, but honestly, we felt blessed to not have to wrangle the wild Muffins as long as we otherwise would have had to. It's just one of those days for them. Which makes it all the more interesting that our longer-than-usual afternoon should be a rainy one, too. Good for the garden, not so good for parental sanity. Perhaps the clouds will have a silver lining, though, by making bedtime actually look dark for a change. Also, the cooler weather is definitely nice after the summer preview we had from Wednesday on last week. And, thanks to a big stash of kids' books in the basement, a six-year-old who can read words, and a three-year-old who can read pictures, we'll probably survive.
