'Twas the day before Potter

'Twas the day before Potter,
and in the library,
the wizards did wander
as Muggles looked wary.
Mr. Jared, it seemed, had turned to a ghost,
and Amanda'd become that girl who reads most:

The wizards were sorted with slips from a cauldron,
then given a map with all sorts of things drawn on.

Hermione was sorted to Slytherin hall . . .

And Ravenclaw got the best ghost of all:

We left registration and traveled beyond

To a place in the alley that was issuing wands

Hermione got one, and Dobby did, too.
Jared waved his with a swish and a "Boo!"

The fair was quite fun,
'til out of the blue,
the baby got sad.
So we bid it* adieu.

*the fair that is, not the baby
