And here we have the garden . . . should it have been a rice paddy, perhaps?
Eventually, the rain died down. Dad was home, and he said he'd like to go on the Slurpee run, too. On the way, Mom happened to mention the size of the Slurpees being given away: 7.11 oz. Dad decided that wasn't quite enough Slurpee to merit finding a 7-11. And so, we went in search of Frosties at Wendy's (with food on the side, too!). Dinner out instead of tiny Slurpees? Yeah, we'll take it. And thus it was that Wendy's grew richer from the 7-11 free Slurpee promotion. Dad even got Mom a big fancy yummy strawberry Frosty, just for being Mom.
Back at home, the rain had mostly soaked in, and Mom decided to do a bit of gardening, including lots of weeding. Jared decided it was time to harvest a carrot or two. He planted them himself a couple of months ago, and there wasn't a prouder little boy anywhere in the neighborhood than he as he showed his little carrots to his friends and shared with them. They were suitably impressed, too, since apparently vegetables are far more exciting when they come out of the dirt behind someone's house than when they come from the store.
Meanwhile, Mom's big project was clearing weeds to make way for marigolds. Mom grew them from seed, but until that day they'd been growing right where they'd been planted, very close together. Here's hoping their new, bigger space will let them grow a little bigger. At any rate, they've already lasted a lot longer in our ground than the marigold starts Mom got from a nursery a couple of years ago. :)
After the Muffins were in bed, Mom found a visitor sitting on the computer. Is this little critter an omen of things to come? Yes indeed. A few days later when it appeared on the dining room table, Dad went so far as to call it Cosmo. Translation for those unfamiliar with the aforementioned allusions: the Muffin clan will be relocating soon. Nothing like relocating to make for more Muffin news. :)
Exciting news!!
