Our family home evening tonight ended with haircuts for almost everyone in the family. First, Dad trimmed Amanda's bangs. Next, he tried to give Jared a much-needed trim, but Jared vigorously signed "all done" from the "barber chair" and wanted out. So, Dad went ahead and gave Curtis his first trim (he had a shaggy collar line) in hopes of interesting Jared. Eventually, Jared did get his haircut, but not without protest. Finally, Dad cut his own hair, as usual. Mom has used Dad's barber service in the past (he does a great job, by the way), but she opted out of this evenings barber session, simply because she is satisfied with the current length of her hair, the result of a haircut by Dad a couple of months ago.
Our day began with Mom "going back to work." Mom had been babysitting a little boy about Jared's age in our home since last September, but she took a few weeks off after Curtis was born. So, today was Mom's first day with four kids. It was nice for Jared to have someone his size to play with again. Curtis had some eye drainage yesterday and today, so Mom really got to try out the four kid experience by taking all four of them to have the doctor look at Curtis. (thank goodness for minivans!) The doctor prescribed some ointment (the same kind they put in babies' eyes at the hospital after birth), and he said Curtis should be OK, since such occurrences are fairly common for babies. The other news from the doctor's office: Curtis now weighs 10 lbs 12 oz (up from 8 lbs 9 oz on May 1).
A note about last week: On Wednesday, Amanda's preschool went on a field trip to a local airport. Since then, she has frequently declared that she wants to be a pilot when she grows up. (guess she wants to be like her Grandpa!)
