Ever since Amanda was born, we've had our little family tradition of coloring eggs. We don't usually hide them, and some years we get more of them eaten than others, but we always color eggs at Easter just for the fun of it. This year's Egg Fest is brought to you by the Muffins and McCormick food coloring.
We started with 2 1/2 dozen eggs. Jared LOVES eggs, particularly cracking them open, so the first challenge was to 1) buy the eggs as late as possible and 2) keep them as hidden as possible from Jared for as long as possible before the eggs got hard boiled. Thanks to Mom's sneakiness, we only lost 3 raw eggs to Jared. We also fried three, but the rest made it to the boiling pot in preparation for coloring. We did have a few more casualties along the way after that, but that's why Mom got so many in the first place.

Jared the Egg Dye monster searching for more prey. The bowl of dye in front of him contains nearly all of the 8 colors we had, but somehow it managed to produce really cool dark purple eggs. Guess he would have done well making clothing dye way back when.
