Christmas 2007: New Camera!

What you see above is our one picture from Christmas Day 2007. Yup, that's it. You see, even though we DID get a new camera, it came with a video option, something we'd never had before, and so most of our filming that first day was video rather than still pictures. However, this picture does show some of the Christmas loot (including the box for the camera and a disposable camera we used prior to the new camera), and it shows Amanda playing with her big present: Mega Blocks.

Some Christmas highlights not captured in still pictures from that day:
  • We got a big Christmas tree. Bigger than usual, anyway. Up until this year, our tree was always the little two foot tall artificial tree that Grandfather got for Mom way back in 1989. Our new tree is also an artificial tree, but it's about six feet tall. Just big enough to be big for the kids, but not too big for our ceiling or for "easy" decorating. We also got some red balls to go on the tree, as Dad is a firm believer in red and green as the true colors of Christmas. (For what it's worth, the old tree is still around and used, too, as of Christmas 2009.)
  • Amanda loved her new blocks!
  • Jared, being only a month old, was rather indifferent to the whole thing. He was still cute, though.
  • Mom loved the new camera and even learned how to set it to the correct date stamp, although not until after the above picture was taken. The camera had been a display model at Wal-mart, and so we got a nice year-end clearance deal on it just in time for Christmas and not too long after our previous camera, passed on from Grandma & Grandpa, finally gave up the ghost.
  • It was our first Christmas with just us, Mom, Dad, & Muffins, no going to anyone's house and no one visiting. Made us feel like we were getting to be a "real" family tough enough to have our own holidays. :)
